Amy Richter

Founder/Executive Director

Amy Richter was born and raised in Portland Oregon. She has an educational background from Whittier College in Music Therapy and has been a musician since the age of six. Amy also has 15 years of marketing experience with a strong emphasis on project management. During a 10 year career at adidas, Amy directly managed marketing initiatives that contained budgets between $3-12 million. Amy served as a board member for Camp Ukandu, a camp for children with cancer for 5 years and volunteered at the camp for 13 years. In 2010/2011 she participated as marketing committee member for Salud, an organization who supports medical care for seasonal vineyard workers. Amy has two children in the public school system and has volunteered at her children’s schools for the past ten years. Amy has taught over 600 Music Workshop classes for students K-8th grade.

Amy Hall was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. She is a local photographer who has two children in the public elementary and middle school system. She was on the board of her children’s school PTO for 5 years and her church for the past six years as well as teaching the Music Workshop program at her children’s school in 2015. She served as a committee member and chair for the Junior League for six years. Amy studied history and theater at University of Puget Sound. She has been a musician from a very young age and is currently working at Music Workshop in the Program Facilitator role.

Marvin Kaiser

Marvin Kaiser

Program Advisor

Marvin A. Kaiser is Dean Emeritus of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Portland State University, Portland, Oregon where he served for 17 years. He followed this work by serving as the CEO of Mary’s Woods at Marylhurst, a Life Plan Community located in Lake Oswego, Oregon, for five and one-half years, retiring from that position in 2016. He served as an Encore Fellow for Music Workshop through June of 2019 and continues to support Music Workshop as the Board Advisor and Financial Strategist.
Dr. Kaiser received his B.A. degree in philosophy from Cardinal Glennon College, St. Louis, Missouri in 1961. He received an M.A. degree in sociology from Kansas State University and an M.S.W. from the University of Kansas. He received his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1979. His academic career stretched from Marymount College in Salina, Kansas, to Kansas State University and then to Portland State University. Dr. Kaiser has served as staff fellow and consultant to the United Nations Office at Vienna, Centre for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs, as a staff fellow and consultant to the United States Agency for International Development and to the House Select Committee on Aging, United States House of Representatives.
He serves on numerous community boards, including the Right Brain Initiative, the Nativity School, Catholic Charities of Oregon, the Wholistic Peace Institute, the Cedar Sinai Park senior residential community, Oregon Mentors, Portland Clinic Foundation and the JFRF (Jessie F. Richardson Foundation).

John Dunn

John Dunn

John was born and raised in Santa Ana, California and moved to Portland, Oregon to attend college at Lewis and Clark in 2012. He graduated in 2016, receiving a degree in Philosophy. After working abroad in the agricultural sector, he returned to California to work at a bookstore, heading the magazine department. Following his return to Portland, he began working with Music Workshop. He has played music since a young age and studied guitar, bass, piano and sitar.
